
Istanbul is now connected with all the D-8 Capitals by Turkish Airlines. Recent launch of flight operation in Istanbul-Abuja sector by Turkish Airlines has marked with a successful D-8 connectivity by air.
Turkish Airlines started its flight in Istanbul-Abuja sector from 03 March 2015. With this, Istanbul, the Millennium city of the world, has been connected with all the D-8 Capitals. This is a major development in Civil Aviation, one of the D-8 Organizations priority areas of cooperation. The D-8 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed among the Member States in 2007 accelerated cooperation in the air. After signing of this MoU, four D-8 Capitals namely, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Dhaka and Abuja have been connected by Turkish Airlines.
Turkish Airlines now has a presence in 20 destinations in D-8 countries, including all D-8 Capitals. The capital city of Nigeria, Abuja is its 3rd destination in Nigeria with existing service to Lagos and Kano. Beginning March 3rd, Abuja flights will be operated 5 times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
