The meeting of the Task Force on Ceramic and Glass was held on 26 January 2015, in Tehran, Iran. The overall objectives of cooperation in Ceramic and Glass industry are to facilitate cooperation and promotion as follows:
  • Holding the special exhibitions by the D-8 Member States
  • Establishment of Research and Development (R&D) center between D-8 Member States
  • Cooperation in scientific, technical and engineering in the field of ceramic and glass industry
  • Establishment of D-8 Member States’ Association of Glass and Ceramic Industry
  • Establishment of website for D-8 ceramic and glass or as part of the D-8 Portal

Outcomes of the Task Force on Glass, Ceramics, Granite and Marble of the 5th Ministerial Meeting on Industrial Cooperation held on 09- 11 May 2016 in Cairo, Egypt are as follows:

  • The meeting discussed that both Glass and Ceramics required granite and marble as raw materials and therefore agreed to rename the task force as “Task Force on Glass, Ceramics, Granite and Marble”;
    • Delegations of Egypt and Turkey noted that establishment of plants in Egypt for the treatment of raw material before going into any industry could facilitate collaboration. They also stressed the need for exchange of the list of suppliers and importers of raw materials;
    • Establishing Ceramic and glass investments in Nigeria;
    • Transfer of Know-how between Egypt and turkey in the field of raw materials processing through R&D centers and associations;
    • Establishing commercial agreement between D-8 Member States including facilities and benefits among the D8 members;
    • Holding an exhibition for ceramics and glass every two years between D-8 Member States;
    • Turkey also highlighted the importance of the use of D-8 web portal (www.d8coop.com). Each member state shall encourage the SME’s to cooperate and to take the advantage of the portal and it was suggested also to Include the exhibitions data of the D-8 Member States members in the D-8 website;

Outcomes of the Task Force on Glass, Ceramics, Granite and Marble of the 6th Ministerial Meeting on Industrial Cooperation held on 14- 16 November 2017 in Abuja, Nigeria are as follows:

  • Establishing commercial agreement between D-8 Member States including facilities and benefits among the D-8 members.
  •  Facilities can be leveraged based on member country for the promotion of SME in knowledge transfer donation of machineries and equipment and advancing financial assistance in form of soft loans and grants.
  • Holding an exhibition for ceramics and glass annually between D-8 Member States;
  • The member countries resolved to have special exhibitions with the following addendum.
  • It should be annual rotatory event in line with the D8 meetings
  • To commence in 2019 with any of the D8 member country
  • The host member should fashion out logistic for the exhibition for proximity sake
  • The nature of the exhibition was agreed for display and sales of products and to
  • include plenary session for raw material, technology and investment for the promotion of member state sector developments.
  • Turkey also highlighted the importance of the use of D-8 web portal (www.d8coop.com).
  • Each member state shall encourage the SMEs to cooperate and to take the advantage of the portal and it was suggested also to Include the exhibitions data of the D-8 Member
  • States members in the D-8 website;
  • website of member countries under D-8 web portal (www.d8coop.com) should be established in the Ministry of Industry of member countries are requested to provide information on the benefit of the need for investing and promoting SMEs in their countries.
