Secretary-General of D-8, Ambassador Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari addressed the Turkey-Asia Civil aviation conference held in Antalya, Turkey on 23-24 April, 2018.

He emphasized the importance of the Civil Aviation Sector particularly in respect of Asia Pacific and stressed the need to work assiduously towards fostering the development of an economically viable civil aviation system (airlines, airports, air navigation services providers, etc.) and enhancing its economic efficiency and transparency while facilitating access to funding for aviation infrastructure and other investment needs as well as technology transfer and capacity building in order to support the growth of air transport for the benefit of all stakeholders.

On the sidelines of the event, the Secretary-General met with the President of the Council of ICAO, H.E. Dr. Olumuyiwa Bernard ALIU and the Turkish Deputy Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication, H.E. Mr. Yuksel COSKUNYUREK.

The D-8 Member States were invited to the conference by the Civil Aviation Authority of Turkey. Minister of state for Aviation of Nigeria and Director-Generals of Civil Aviation Authorities as well as Experts of the Industry participated in the event.

The Secretary-General appreciated the government of the Republic of Turkey, particularly the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, for inviting the D-8 to this important meeting.
