D-8 to Hold WG on Civil Aviation this Week in Antalya, Turkey

D-8 Organization will hold the D-8 Meeting of Airline Companies, and D-8 Meeting Directors General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Authorities in Antalya, Turkey, on 26-28 November 2010. The meeting will cater discussions by the representatives of airline companies, training and maintenance organizations on  exchange views on the Status of the potencies, opportunities, challenges and threats of airlines, training and maintenance organizations  in terms of cooperation within D-8 countries.
The meeting will also seek to urge member countries that have not signed the “Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Establishment of D-8 Member Countries’ Working Group for Cooperation in Civil Aviation” to expedite the implementation of the said MoU.
Cooperation on civil aviation in D-8 was inititated through the first meeting of D-8 DGCA which was held on 27-29 June 2007 in Antalya-Turkey with breakthrough outcome on D-8 civil aviation that D-8 member countries were agreed on draft Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) as well as the Terms of Reference (TOR) of the Working Group as proposed by Turkey.
The following meeting on D-8 Civil Aviation cooperation was held on 08-10 September 2007 in Isfahan-Iran. During this meeting, the final draft of MOU was signed by Secretary General of D-8 Secretariat, DGCA of the Republic of Turkey and President of Civil Aviation Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The meeting also appointed DGCA Turkey to be the Chairman of the D-8 Working Group for two years.
The Third D-8 Meeting on DGCA was held in Bali, Indonesia, on 17-18 June 2008. During this meeting, D-8 member countries presented their current situation of civil aviation business. Moreover, to activate the Task Forces as a follow up of the Article 5 of the Term of Reference of D-8 Working Group on Civil Aviation, the meeting agreed to establish six Task Forces on civil aviation cooperation. During this meeting, the Director General of Civil Aviation of the Republic of Indonesia, the Director General of Civil Aviation of Bangladesh and the Assistant Director General of Civil Aviation of Pakistan signed the MoU of the Working Group on Civil Aviation.
The meeting will be held at Limak Atlantis Hotel, Antalya, Turkey, and will be participated by Director General of Civil Aviation of member countries.
