The Secretary-General of D-8, H.E. Ambassador Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari, paid a visit to the Acting Director General of Civil Aviation of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Bahri Kesici, at the latters Office in Ankara on 1st of October, 2018.
The Secretary-General congratulated Mr. Kesici for the successful Istanbul Airshow 2018 Event held in Iastanbul, Turkey, from 27-30 September, 2018 and expressed his pleasure that Turkey is one of the most advanced countries in aviation and defense industries in the World.
The meeting addressed means to promote frameworks of cooperation in Civil Aviation among D-8 Countries.
The Secretary-General also briefed and requsted support from the Acting Director General regarding his plans for the D-8 Organization in Civil Aviation sector.
In response, Mr. Kesici thanked Ambassador Ku Jaafar for his kind words regarding the Airshow 2018 Event and assured that the Civil Aviation Authority of Turkey will provide support to boost cooperation between the D-8 and DGCA of Turkey.
Furthermore, Ambassador Ku Jaafar pointed out the importance of the Civil Aviation for the D-8 Organization as the most successful sectoral track of D-8 and the need for the cooperation between Member States to create D-8 Industrial Zones for Research and Development in order to advance activities in Civil Aviation. Both sides temporarily agreed on the name of “D-8 Industrial Cooperation Program’’ for conducting Research and Development in order to cooperate in Civil Aviation among D-8 member states.
He also mentioned the importance of developing and implementing the proposals in the Letter of Intent that was signed between the D-8 Organization and the Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport in August, 2018. The Letter of Intent includes proposal to provide special airport facilities such as Fast Track Lane and Lounge services for D-8 citizens, assigning a space on the billboard at the Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport for publicising D-8 activities drive and creating airlines links among all the D-8 countries’ airports. The Acting Director General also promised to coordinate with relevant local authorities for the implementation of these proposals.
He also expressed confidence that these ideas will bring effectiveness to the cooperation in Civil Aviation among D-8 member states and assured that he will provide support and assistance to the D-8 in this regard.
