The Secretary-General His Excellency Ambassador Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari, with his delegation, paid a farewell visit to the Honourable Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey, His Excellency Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on 8th December 2021 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ankara.

During the visit, the hon’ble minister warmly welcomed the Secretary-General and expressed his appreciation for his efforts, initiatives and achievements during his tenure. In line with the directions of H.E. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Turkey during the 9th D-8 Summit held in Istanbul, Turkey on 20th October, 2017, the Foreign Minister reiterated the importance of D-8 Organization for the Republic of Turkey and highlighted the need to expand its membership of the Organization as well as granting observer status.

On his part, the Secretary-General conveyed his gratitude to the hon’ble minister for the constructive support and continuous assistance of the Government of Turkey to the D-8 Organization during his tenure of service.

The meeting ended with exchange of gifts and family photo session.

The term of office of the D-8 Secretary-General ends at the end of December 2021.
