The Secretary-General of D-8, Ambassador Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari paid a visit to the Secretariat of the D-8 Technology Transfer and Exchange Network (D-8 TTEN) on 18th August, 2019 in Pardis Technology Park, Tehran, Iran.
The Secretary-General met with the representatives of the D-8 TTEN Secretariat and Pardis Technology Park in order to find out ways to advance cooperation in a wide spectrum of areas. The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General, Ambassador Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari; the Director, Administrative, Legal and Internal Issues, Mr. Nasir Aminu and Research Analyst and Press Officer, Mr. Ilham Uludag from the D-8 Secretariat. On the D-8 TTEN side, there was the President, Mr. Mahdi Safarinia; International Relations Expert, Mr. Reza Aslani;Head of Elites Technology Incubator, Mr. Mohsen Aliakbarian and Mr. Ebrahim Teymouri from Pardis Technology Park as well.
The programme started with presentation of corporate video by the representatives of Pardis Park which introduces the Pardis Technology Park, its activities and projects. After the video presentation, the International Relations Expert of Pardis Park, Mr. Reza Aslani briefed the D-8 delegation regarding mission, vision and main objectives of the Pardis Technology Park.
Mr. Reza Aslani also shared some figures regarding the Pardis Park in order to show its capacity and major activities. He informed the delegation that the Park offers tax exemption for commercial and individual activities for 20 years, being in a Free Trade Zone without any restrictions and also flexible rules for foreign investments.
Thereafter, Mr. Ebrahim Teymouri briefed the meeting regarding the current activities of the D-8 TTEN Secretariat and plans and projects which they are following up. He also expressed the importance of holding the Technology Investment Meeting (TIM) of the D-8 TTEN this year.
On his part, the Secretary-General Ambassador Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari expressed delight over his visit to the D-8 TTEN Secretariat and Pardis Technology Park. He said he is impressed with the Park’s success in technology development. He also added that he is open to learning more regarding the activities of D-8 TTEN and Pardis Park.
The Secretary-General also appreciated the D-8 TTEN Secretariat for its efforts to realize its activities although the Technology Investment Meeting (TIM) 2018 was not held last year. He also asked the D-8 TTEN Secretariat regarding the level of satisfaction on the outcome of activities and success of the meetings held in order to understand the current situation of the D-8 TTEN Programme and its efficiency.
Furthermore, Ambassador Ku Jaafar mentioned that D-8 TTEN Secretariat needs to play active role in some important initiatives which the D-8 Secretariat has introduced especially the D-8 International University and the Network of Pioneers for Research and Innovation (NPRI).
At the end of the meeting, the Secretary-General of D-8 shared some details of the initiatives and activities of the D-8 Secretariat with the representatives of D-8 TTEN Secretariat and Pardis Technology Park.
