The Secretary-General called on the alternate Commissioner of the Republic of Turkey

The D-8 Secretary-General, H.E. Ambassador Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari called on the alternate Commissioner of the Republic of Turkey, H.E. Ambassador Ömer Gücük at the latter’s office on 18th July, 2019 in Ankara, Turkey.

The two interlocutors held fruitful discussions and exchanged ideas on different topics.

The D-8 Secretary-General congratulated Ambassador Gücük for his appointment as the alternate Commissioner of the Republic of Turkey to D-8 Organization and he expressed his confidence in the Ambassador and his team.He wished the Ambassador success in his new capacity.

The Secretary-General stressed the need for the support of all Member-States in efforts to positively transform the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation.

Ambassador Ku Jaafar also briefed Ambassador Gücük regarding the activities of the D-8 Organization in priority areas such as Transportation, Tourism, Industry and SME, Education, Health, Agriculture and Food Security and Trade. He also shared some details regarding the new initiatives on which the Secretariat is working such as the D8 Payment Card System, the Health and Social Protection Partnership, the Barter Trading System and the cooperation on Civil Aviation.

On his part, Ambassador Gücük thanked the Secretary-General and his delegation for their visit to his office and expressed his desire to work closely with the D-8 Secretariat in order to take the Organization to the next level. He also mentioned that the Ministry will closely follow all the initiatives introduced by the D-8 Secretariat in order to help in implementing them effectively. Ambassador Ömer Gücük also expressed his unflinching support and that of his team to the Secretariat during his term and that of the Commissioner.
