The D-8 Secretariat held a virtual coordination meeting with the UNCTAD on Tuesday, 02nd November 2021. The D-8 Secretary-General H.E. Ambassador Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari, the Director for Economy and External Relations, Ms. Rasha Hamdy & Mr. Md. Biplob. Tarafder, Programme Officer participated in the meeting from the D-8 side. From the UNCTAD side, Mr. Hamed El-Kady, in charge of international investment agreements and his team joined the meeting. The meeting focused on discussing the plans for future cooperation between the two organizations. They decided to hold two webinars; one is on ‘Public Health and International Investment Agreements (IIAs)’ to be held in March 2022 and the second webinar is on ‘Climate Change and IIAs’ to be held in the second half of 2022.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to work closely in the upcoming days and will continue their cooperation in organizing these two webinars as well as launching research work on investment policies for sustainable economic growth of the D-8 Member States.
