On behalf of the Secretary General of D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, Mr. Mohammed Zakkariya Mulkiaman, Director of the D-8 Secretariat attended the 5th SMEs Governmental Bodies Meeting on 18-19 November 2014 in Abuja, Nigeria.  

On behalf of the D-8 Secretary General, the Director expressed thanks and gratitude to the esteemed Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, especially to the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), for the warm welcome, hospitality and organization of the Meeting.  He also expresses appreciation to all delegates that attended the meeting.

Mr. Zakkariya expressed confidence that through deliberate discussion, exchange of views and sharing experiences, the D-8 Member States will succeed in reviewing the policies and regulations to enhance competitiveness of the D-8 SMEs in future. 

In addition, the D-8 Secretariat Director, proposed for the Member States to consider developing a concrete project proposals and workable action plan for implementation among the D-8 Member States. Furthermore, he believes that signing a Joint Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will strengthen cooperation among D-8 SMEs stakeholders.
