The 3rd Technology Investment Meeting (TIM 2021) was held from 16-17 February 2021 in Iran

The 3rd Technology Investment Meeting (TIM 2021) was organized jointly and as hybrid event by the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, the D-8 Technology Transfer and Exchange Network (D-8 TTEN) Secretariat and the Pardis Technology Park in Tehran, Iran, from 16-17 February, 2021.

The Meeting was attended by the D-8 Secretary-General, His Excellency Ambassador Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari through live broadcast, Ambassadors of the Republic of Indonesia and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to Iran, the officials of the D-8 TTEN Secretariat and Pardis Technology Park, representatives from the D-8 Member States, representatives of companies and investors from different parts of the world.

The meeting commenced with the opening speech of the D-8 Secretary-General, welcome remarks of the Vice President of the Pardis Technology Park and the Secretary of the D-8 TTEN Secretariat.

The D-8 Secretary-General, in his statement, emphasized the key importance of the emerging technologies such as internet of things, artificial intelligence and robotics and other activities in science and technology which will directly and positively affect economic developments of the countries including D-8 Member States. He also expressed the need for the D-8 TTEN and D-8 NPRI to work together in order to exchange technologies, share information and experience, initiate joint programs and projects and engage in other collaborative efforts for the economic growth and sustainable development of the D-8 Member States.

The Secretary-General also highlighted the need for the D-8 Member Countries to come together to produce their own technologies and complement each other in the activities of technology and innovation in order to reach the zenith of development in the relevant areas for their economic growth and prosperity.

The first day of the meeting continued with key speeches, presentations and panel discussions on science, technology and innovation areas by the representatives of the private sector and government institutions of the D-8 Member States as well as other countries.

The second day of the meeting also witnessed presentations, panel discussions and exchanges of views and ideas on start-ups, developments and expectations in the relevant areas of technology and innovation by the representatives.

The D-8 Technology Transfer and Exchange Network (D-8 TTEN) is an international network created to develop technology cooperation among D-8 Member States.

The Technology Investment Meeting is also a platform to meet, exchange experience and explore opportunities of investing in creative and forward-thinking startups.
