The Secretary-General, Ambassador Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari, met the President of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Dr. Serdar Çam, on 2nd October, 2018, at the latter’s office in Ankara, Turkey. The Secretary-General was warmly welcomed by the President. Dr. Çam congratulated the Secretary-General for his appointment as the Secretary-General and wished him resounding success. He also expressed his desire for the Member States to be successful in economic cooperation and development. Furthermore, the President briefed the Secretary-General regarding the activities of TİKA in various development cooperation activities in 150 countries through its 61 Programme Coordination Offices located in 59 countries across 5 continents. Ambassador Ku Jaafar thanked the President of TİKA for his kind words and goodwill for him and the Organization. Furthermore, he said that he is happy and proud of the humanitarian activities and development assistance of TİKA around the world and congratulated Mr. Çam for a job welldone. The Secretary-General also briefed the President of TİKA regarding the current activities and projects of the D-8. The two interlocutors also discussed a wide range of issues including cooperation between the D-8 and TIKA. The Secretary-General requested TIKA’s support and assistance to D-8 for activities and projects and he emphasized the importance of collaboration between the two institutions in order to provide humanitarian and economic development assisstance to D-8 Member-States. Dr. Çam promised that TIKA will provide the much needed assistance in specific projects of the D-8 and work closely together in a wide spectrum of areas . In response, the Secretary-General, Ambassador Ku Jaafar, thanked the President of TIKA for his generous support and constructive ideas regarding cooperation between the two institutions.
