In continuation of his bid to forge partnership and cooperation with media organizations across member countries of D-8, and even beyond with the objective of increasing its visibility globally, the Secretary General of the organization, Ambassador Isiaka Abdulqadir Imam visited the Headquarters of the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) in Ankara, recently, where he met with the Director General, Prof. Mehmed Zahid Sobacı.
In his brief remark, Ambassador Imam lauded TRT for becoming one of the most successful media outfits in the world today, noting that the organization had been recognized for its accurate and timely reporting of events as it unfold globally. He commended TRT for its unwavering support and coverage given to activities of D-8 organization over the years, while hoping that this would continue during his tenure.
On his part, the Director General of TRT, Prof Mehmed Zahid Sobacı, congratulated Ambassador Imam on his well-deserved appointment and on his assumption of office as D-8 Secretary General. He assured him that TRT will continue to support and promote the activities of D-8 organization to enable the Secretary General achieve his vision of increased visibility for the organization worldwide.
During the visit, the two interlocutors exchanged views on how to boost the visibility of the D-8 Organization and expand cooperation in new areas including cultural cooperation in D-8 member countries. In this context, the two Chief Executives agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to explore further opportunities to deepen the existing cooperation.
On the forthcoming 25th Anniversary of the founding of D-8 organization in June this year, the Secretary general seized the opportunity of the visit to invite TRT to actively participate in the coverage of activities and events lined up for the celebration in D-8 member countries.
