Secretary General of the Asian Mayors Forum (AMF), Mr. Goshtasb Mozafari, paid a courtesy visit to the D-8 Secretariat on Monday, 5th July, 2021. Mr. Mozafari was accompanied by the Deputy Secretary General of AMF, Mr. Amir Foad Mohseni. He was warmly welcomed by the Director-I of the Secretariat, Ambassador Nasir Aminu.
During the call on, Mr. Mozafari outlined the activities of the AMF and areas of cooperation among the local governments, city councils and mayors of APA (Asian Parliamentary Assembly) member cities for the development of cities and municipalities. He desired for strong cooperation with the D-8 as it’s a promising trans-continental Economic Cooperation Organization. On his part, Ambassador Aminu shed light on the objectives, sectoral areas of cooperation and ongoing projects of the D-8. It was agreed to sign an MOU between these two organizations in the upcoming days in order to formalize their cooperation efforts.
The two officials also exchanged views with a view to finding scope for closer cooperation. Acknowledging the important role of local governments in national development, Director-I expressed keen interest in fostering collaboration and close working relationship with the AMF going forward.
