The Secretary-General of the D-8 Organization for Economic cooperation, Ambassador Dato Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari visited the D-8 Commissioner for the Republic of Indonesia and Director-General for Multilateral Cooperation Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard on Friday 13th April, 2018.

The Secretary-General briefed the Commissioner on the preparations for the 40th session of the commission that is scheduled to take place in Istanbul in June, 2018. He also briefed him on the various sectoral tracks that the Secretariat is pushing, especially tourism, agriculture, transport, energy, industry and SMEs and trade. He also emphasized the need to do a lot of activities under private sector arrangements in order to move economic cooperation forward. Furthermore, he informed the Commissioner about the commitment of IDB to finance D-8 projects through the MOU signed on the sidelines of the 9th D-8 Summit in Istanbul in October, 2017.

Responding, the Commissioner congratulated Ambassador Ku Jaafar on his appointment and wished him a successful tenure. He invited the D-8 to participate in the World Conference on Creative Economy that will be hosted by Indonesia later in the year.
