D-8 Secretary-General H.E. Dr. Seyed AliMohammad Mousavi called on H.E. Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali, President of Islamic Development Bank (IDB) at the IDB Headquarters in Jeddah today.

Dr. Mousavi congratulated Dr. Ali and the IDB member states on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the IDB celebrated last week. He appreciated the role of IDB in promoting the economic activities among the member states through projects, financing and participation.

Mousavi informed the IDB President of the developments that took place within the D-8 in the last 16 years in areas such as Trade, Agriculture, Industry & SME, Energy, Transportation etc. He mentioned that the D-8 was moving towards implementation of policies in the next phase of its life cycle. He also referred to that fact that the Organization was very keen to undertake common projects that would directly benefit people to improve their economic standard.

They discussed about the possibility of establishing institutional links between the two Organizations. They agreed to work on exploring collaborative links in order to explore mutual areas of cooperation and possible financing mechanism by the IDB on common projects in member states. 

Dr. Mousavi invited the President to attend the upcoming D-8 Summit scheduled in Istanbul in December 2014.
