Secretary-General addressed the 1st Technology Investment Meeting held in Tehran

Islamic Republic of Iran hosted 1st Technology Investment Meeting from 4th-5th December, 2017 at Pardis Technology Park in Tehran. Dr. Sorena Sattari, Vice President of Science and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran graced the opening session. Venture Capitalists from D-8 Member States attended the event. 
The Sacretary-General of D-8, Dr. Mousavi expressed gratitude and appreciation of the D-8 Organization to the D-8 TTEN Secretariat for its outstanding contributions and particularly thanked the Pardis Technology Park for the D-8 Technology Transfer Award which is one of the most important activities of the D-8 TTEN.
Dr. Mousavi also highlighted the importance of investment issues in the technology world, especially Venture Capital in high-tech industries and start-up firms in D-8 Member States. He opined that venture-backed start-ups grow faster than non-venture-backed start-ups and nowadays, venture capital is a key factor behind the success of the high-tech industries in developed countries. He also pointed out that venture capital not only links science and technological development but also contributes to national economic development.
Dr. Mousavi prayed that the meeting will deliberate on the solutions to the factors hindering venture capital in high-tech industries, start-ups and the transfer of technology between and amongst Member States and come up with modalities for venture financing in start-up firms and capacity building.
