Officials of the Ministry of Industry of Indonesia visited the D-8 Secretary-General

A delegation from Directorate General for Industrial Resilience and International Industrial Access Development (IRIAD), Ministry of Industry of Indonesia paid a visit to the D-8 Secretariat on 25 April, 2018. The aim of the visit is to improve the country’s participation and contribution in the D-8 cooperation in standard harmonization of industrial and halal products. The delegation was led by the Hon’ble Consul-General of Indonesia in Istanbul, Mr. Herry Sudradjat.
During the visit, Mr. A. P. Nugraha, Deputy Director for international fora, presented proposals on standard harmonization of industrial product among D-8 Member States and bio-degradable plastic Technology. He explained six stages of the standard harmonization which are strengthening awareness, deepening demand assessment, adoption of Commitment, capacity building, standard harmonization and institutionalization of the programme. The final output of the project is establishment of D-8 Industrial Product Standard Agency.
In his presentation on bio-degradable plastic technology, he gave some facts about plastics. He pointed out all the problems and how harmful plastics are to the environment. Then he explained Cassava-based plastic production and the related technology and business model.
  The Secretary-General, Ambassador Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari, welcomed the initiative and the interest of the Ministry of Industry of Indonesia to work in tandem with the goals of the D-8 Organization. He assured the delegation that the Secretariat was ready for the assistance. He also mentioned that a detailed proposal on their interest would help concretize the mode of cooperation.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary, Directorate General of IRIAD, Ms. Restu Yuni Widayati, and  Minister Counsellor for Economic Affairs, Mr. Toary Worang, Ms. Yulia Ariyani Putri, Ms. Sarie Alexandria and Mr. Moinuddin and Ms. Damla from the D-8 Secretariat.
