Dr. Seyed AliMohammad Mousavi, the D-8 Secretary-General, met with Mr. Ekrem Demirtas, President of Izmir Chamber of Commerce at the latter’s office on 30 March 2017 in Izmir. 

They held a very fruitful and effective discussion in a cordial environment. Dr. Mousavi reiterated his appreciation for the D-8 Chambers of Commerce and Industry Meeting held on 20-21 October 2016 in Izmir. He noted that the Izmir meeting had been a successful business forum and that it would set a good example for future endeavors of D-8, especially regarding public-private partnership. He informed Mr. Demirtas that the final report of the Izmir meeting had been circulated to the Member States. He also highlighted that Member States were informed of the full scholarship to be provided to one student as well as 15% tuition fee discount to be extended to all students from each chamber of commerce and industry that participated in the meeting. Dr. Mousavi also expressed that Tabriz and Urmia Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture were reminded of their commitment to chair the next Meeting to be held in October, 2017.

D-8 Secretary-General and Mr. Demirtas discussed future events which would bring businesspeople together for more trade and stronger network of D-8 businesses.
