H.E. Mr. Seyed Ali Mohammad Moussavi, the Director-General for International Economic Cooperation, from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran today has officially commenced his mission at the center of the D-8 Secretariat in Istanbul Headquarter, Turkey, following the decision was made by the 8th D-8 Summit in November 2012 in Islamabad, Pakistan. Dr. Moussavi is a senior international diplomat with an elaborated academic background within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran and has previously held wide range of responsibilities in dealing with international matters of economic and political nature, such as being the Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the office of the United Nations and other International Organizations in Vienna, Austria, as well as the Chairman of the Council of Permanent Representatives and Ambassadors, for ECO.

Dr. Moussavi will be assuming his assignment as the new D-8 Secretary-General for a period of four years.
