Ambassador Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari, D-8 Secretary-General received Mr. Nuri Birtek, Secretary-General of the Association of National Development Finance Institutions in Member Countries of the Islamic Development Bank (ADFIMI) at the D-8 headquarters in Istanbul on December 25, 2018. The meeting discussed ways to consolidate cooperation between the two institutions in areas of common interest. Mr. Birtek informed about ADFIMI’s activities and its upcoming events with a special reference to those in the areas of financing infrastructure and the role of Public Private Partnerships (PPP), as well as events addressing the use of local currencies for cross border transactions.

On his part, the D-8 Secretary General briefed Mr Birtek about the Organization’s focus on six priority areas of cooperation and informed about the Organization’s latest activities and its endeavours to promote the use of local currencies in cross border transactions and its project to introduce the D-8 Payment Card, developed by the Malaysian fintech company KOMEPS. Ambassador Ku Jaafar also welcomed ADFIMI’s proposals and expressed the D-8’s willingness to partner with the Association on different activities.
