Dr. Seyed AliMohammad Mousavi, the D-8 Secretary-General, called on Mr. Suat Hayri Aka, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transportation of Turkey at the latter’s office on 03 February 2017 in Ankara.

The two interlocutors held a very fruitful and effective discussion in a cordial environment. Dr. Mousavi informed the Undersecretary of the latest developments taking place within the Organization and conveyed that the Secretariat was working in full swing to implement the vision set by the Organization’s leaders. He informed Mr. Aka that transportation sector, one of six priority sectors of the organization, had not made satisfactory progress compared with other areas of cooperation. He opined that a Senior Officials’ meeting on transportation may be convened by Turkey to explore the possibility of cooperation and further exchanges. He sought his support in furthering common agenda to consolidate the partnership among the Member States. 

Mr. Aka warmly appreciated the Secretary-General and assured him of all cooperation. He informed him of the latest policy developments within Turkey and shared some success stories in different sub-sectors of Transportation. He mentioned that Turkey would work on incorporating Research and Development in transportation so that latest technologies and best practices could be shared among the Member States.
