D-8 Secretariat paid a visit to Turkish Ministry of Industry and Trade

Earlier this month on May 4th, Secretary General of D-8, Widi Pratikto and his delegation from D-8 Secretariat paid a courtesy visit to the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Trade to meet with Mr. Sufyan Emirlioglu, the Director General of Industry.

The meeting covered various talking points such as the previous Working Group on Industry meetings under D-8 framework of cooperation, which is so far has been successfully organised for the 5th time, with the Tehran meeting on February 2010 being the most recent one.

According to the result of Tehran meeting, it was agreed that the 6th meeting would be held in Istanbul, Turkey on 4-6 October 2011. The meeting went on to discuss detail of the meeting such as the terms of reference, agendas and administrative arrangement. The meeting also suppported the idea from the Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Industry of Turkey to insert “Defense Industry” under D-8 WGIC Task forces (so far, D-8 WGIC Task forces have 11 Task forces).
