D-8 Secretariat offered its felicitations on the occasion of the 89th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Turkey and wished the people and Government of Turkey a happy anniversary. In a congratulatory note addressed to D-8 Commissioner of Turkey, Secretary-General Widi Pratikto expressed his high appreciation for Turkey’s historic proposal and initiative in 1997 for the creation of the Organization,  and underlined his strong belief that the excellent relations between the two sides will be further  strengthened in the years to come. Pratikto also credited this to the active interest and commitment of the Turkish D-8 Commissioners.
