The Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran successfully hosted the 1st High Council Meeting of D-8 Technology Transfer and Exchange Network (D-8 TTEN) from 7 to 9 October 2013 in Tehran, Iran. The Meeting was attended by Delegations from Member Countries of D-8, namely, the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of Turkey. 

At the inauguration of the Meeting, the D-8 Secretary General and the President of Pardis Technology Park of Iran officially launched the web-portal of the D-8 Technology Transfer and Exchange Network (www.d8tten.org). This web-portal is an informative and transaction-enabled network comprising of technomart (technology market) functions. In practical, this web-portal will be used as the platform for the technology database for the D-8 Member Countries. 

Delegations from member countries exchanged views and shared information on the importance of technology transfer and exchange network infrastructure and the need for a strategy for developing inter-linkages among D-8 Member Countries. They agreed that the proper foundation of a technology transfer and exchange network (TTEN) was essential to make an appropriate ground and infrastructure to exchange and transfer of the products data, technologies and services among D-8 Countries. Subsequently, this framework would reinforce and expand the cooperation between the member countries in industrial and technology areas.  

At the end, Delegations agreed on several issues for promoting the field of D-8 technology cooperation through D-8 TTEN web-portal. The Meeting also agreed that Pardis Technology Park of Iran will be the Secretariat of the D-8 Technology Transfer and Exchange Network (D-8 TTEN) and hailed Nigeria for showing their interest to host the next meeting, which will be held in the second quarter of 2014.
