D-8 Newborn Resuscitation Programme inaugurated today

Turkey hosted the Evaluation Meeting for D-8 Countries on Newborn Resuscitation Programme, Breast Milk Trainings and Maternal-Child Health from 10th till 14th November 2014 in Ankara. Participants from the D-8 Member States of Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey attended the program. 
This evaluation meeting is a unique initiative to accelerate the joint efforts toward attainment of common development objectives. Health is one of the areas of cooperation within the D-8 Organization, as envisaged in the D-8 Roadmap.  
The 4-day program would include discussion, among others, on steps for resuscitation, positive pressure ventilation, breast compression, endotracheal intubation and laryngeal mask, drugs, resuscitation of preterm babies, lactating in Turkey and lactating process, specifications of breast milk, nutrition of sick and low-birth-weight babies, insufficient milk, maternal–child health and programs carried out in Turkey etc. 
 
The program has been designed in such manner as participants may share their best medical practices, experiences and interact among themselves with ease and cordiality. The particular importance to give increased attention to timely and effective resuscitation process, breast-feeding and nutritional care immediately after birth to both mother and the newborn has been sequentially touched upon in the programme for maximum efficacy. It is expected that the meeting would benefit the participants to effectively carry out their work.
This timely initiative of the Ministry of Health of Turkey would help the D-8 attain its development objectives by strengthening the joint efforts.
