D-8 Workshop on Microfinance for SMEs and the Central Bank of Nigeria’s 7th Annual Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Finance Conference hosted by the Federal Republic of Nigeria were successfully held on 15 August 2013 in Abuja-Nigeria.

The Meeting was attended by delegations from Egypt, Iran, Malaysia, Pakistan, Turkey and Nigeria as the host.

The theme of the Conference was “Strategies for Sustainable MSME Financing”. The workshop sessions of the conference brought to bear, the technical and practical experiences of Nigeria and D-8 countries for better and sustainable economic cooperation. 

The workshop sessions have gone a thorough discussion on some crucial issues that will enhance the delivery and usage of financial services, promote economic activities, create wealth and accelerate youth empowerment through the MSME window. Moreover, wholesale funding, enabling environment, appropriate models for SMEs and movable collateral registry for MSMEs financing were discussed.
