The Secretary-General, Ambassador Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari paid a visit to Turkish Radio and Television (TRT) headquarters and met with the Deputy Director General of TRT, Mr. Tuncay Yurekli. The purpose of the visit was to discuss means to boost cooperation between the D-8 and TRT.
Mr. Yurekli welcomed the Secretary-General to his office thanked him for his august visit to the TRT.
The Secretary-General also thanked Mr. Yurekli for the assistance and support of TRT to the D-8 Organization in widely publicizing its activities to the world. He also described the TRT as a global brand and a powerful broadcasting organization and requested for more support from it for D-8 to be given wide publicity.
In response, Mr. Yurekli expressed his pleasure for the kind words said about TRT and assured that TRT is willing to expand cooperation with the D-8 in order to make the Organization and its activities more visible.
Furthermore, Ambassador Ku Jaafar, briefed Mr. Yurekli regarding current activities and some of the projects being undertaken by the D-8. He also solicited the assistance of TRT in the efforts of the D-8 to organize an economic forum. In this regard, Mr. Yurekli agreed on providing support and assistance to the D-8.
Furthermore, the Secretary-General visited the New Media Department and met the Coordinator of the Department, Mr. Ali Sağlam. They discussed possible areas of cooperation in promoting D-8 visibility. The Secretary-General thanked the Department for preparing a corporate video for the D-8.
