The Secretary-General of the Developing Eight (D-8) Organization for Economic Cooperation, H.E. Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, met with the Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, at the OTS Secretariat in Istanbul.
The meeting focused on exchanging views on regional and global developments and exploring ways to enhance institutional cooperation between the D-8 and the OTS. Both sides emphasized the importance of closer collaboration among like-minded international organizations to promote sustainable development, economic growth, and prosperity for their member states.
The two Secretaries-General highlighted the shared objectives of the D-8 and the OTS, particularly in economic cooperation, trade, investment, and business activities. In this context, they discussed the potential to formalize mutual collaboration through institutional mechanisms.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening dialogue and cooperation through concrete, results-oriented initiatives, including joint activities, forums, and participation in each other’s relevant meetings and events.
The D-8 Secretary-General shared recent developments within the Organization, highlighting the growing momentum of its activities following the 11th D-8 Summit held in Cairo in 2024 and looking ahead to the 12th D-8 Summit to be held in Jakarta this year.
