Mr. Bostjan Skalar, Executive Director of World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) headquarters in Istanbul, visited the D-8 Secretariat on 02 February 2016. He met Dr. Seyed AliMohammad Mousavi, D-8 Secretary-General, during the visit.

They exchanged fruitful discussion on possible mutual cooperation on investment promotion among the D-8 Member States. They underscored the need for intra-investment opportunities among the D-8 Member States and prioritization of certain sectors such as, the investment prospect in service sector, airline industry or tourism. 

They also discussed the possibility of institutional partnership in order to bringing D-8 Investment Promotion Agencies under one platform, encouraging D-8 Member States for more intra-D-8 investment prospect and sharing of experiences. 

 The World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) was established in 1995 as an Association under Swiss law. It has been registered in Geneva, as a non-governmental organization and is in the process of being filed with other relevant authorities. Through its wide range of activities, WAIPA provides opportunity for investment promotion agencies (IPAs) to network and exchange best practices in investment promotion. continues to dedicate time and effort towards building human resources capacity of its Member agencies. Training events have been organized by WAIPA, alone or in coordination with partner organizations.
