Regional Partnership Adviser of United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) H.E. Mehmet Kose paid a courtesy visit to the D-8 Secretariat on Tuesday, 09 March 2021. He was warmly welcomed by the Secretary-General, H.E. Ambassador Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari.

During the call on, Mr. Kose briefed the activities and projects of UNRWA for advancing the human development of the Palestine refugees that basically encompass food, primary and vocational education, primary health care, relief and social services, infrastructure and other emergency response. Describing the D-8 as a promising Economic Cooperation Organization, the Secretary-General outlined the sectoral areas of cooperation and ongoing projects of the organization.

Both officials exchanged their views with the aim to find the scope of closer cooperation. Acknowledging humanitarian issues with utmost importance, the Secretary-General expressed high hope for fostering collaboration and assistance in the future.
