Anadolu Agency becomes global media partner of the D-8

The D-8 Organization has signed an institutional cooperation protocol with Anadolu Agency (AA), Turkey’s premier news agency, in order to advance collaboration between two institutions in Istanbul, Turkey, on 14th January, 2019.

The protocol was signed by the Secretary-General of D-8, Ambassador Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari, and Deputy Director-General of Anadolu Agency, Mr. Mustafa Özkaya, in the Office of Anadolu Agency in Istanbul.

Before the signing ceremony, the Secretary-General and the Deputy Director-General discussed current economic situation of the D-8 member states as well as other countries. They also discussed the means of boosting cooperation between the D-8 and AA.

The Secretary-General pointed out the importance of cooperating with Anadolu Agency, which he described as a big and important national agency having global reach. He added that Anadolu Agency as not only a voice of Turkey, but also the voice of the developing world and Muslim countries as well.

In response, the Deputy Director-General of Anadolu Agency expressed delight over the protocol agreement. He also mentioned that the Agency is keen on building relations and disseminating news about the esteemed Organization. He also expressed the importance of the protocol between two sides as it will give enhance the publicity of the D-8 Organization.

The D-8 Secretary-General also briefed the Deputy Director-General about the activities and future goals of the Organization and pointed out that the D-8 Organization is working assiduously on the six priority areas of cooperation and is even exploring new areas of cooperation such as health and social protection. On his part, Mr. Ozkaya assured that the Agency will contribute immensely to the efforts of the D-8 by covering and broadcasting its activities in order to promote its visibility around the world.

By signing this protocol, the D-8 has declared Anadolu Agency as its global media partner in order to promote its visibility and image in the world. To this end, Anadolu Agency and D-8 will support each other in order to increase publicity and visibility before, during and after their institutional or joint activities. Thus, Anadolu Agency will cover the activities of the D-8 Organization and translate them into all the languages that the agency posts news in.

Under this protocol, the D-8 and Anadolu Agency will also cooperate to mutually provide news and data flow from the field in their joint working areas.

The Secretary-General was also interviewed by correspondents of Anadolu Agency after the signing ceremony regarding the goals achieved in 2018 and the aims and objectives of the Organization in the year 2019.
