Ambassador of Bangladesh to Turkey reaffirmed commitment to the D-8

Mr. M. Allama Siddiki, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to the Republic of Turkey, reaffirmed his country’s commitment as one of the valued founding Members of the Developing Eight Organization for Economic Cooperation to further the development agenda and promote economic ties between the friendly D-8 Member States. 
Mr. Siddiki paid his maiden visit to the D-8 Secretariat on 29 September 2016 and called on Dr. Seyed AliMohammad Mousavi, D-8 Secretary-General. He was accompanied by Mr. F.M. Borhan Uddin, Consul-General of Bangladesh in Istanbul. 
During the meeting, the two interlocutors exchanged fruitful discussion on the role of Bangladesh to D-8 and future engagements for furthering development. They agreed that enhanced engagement by the Member States would foster economic ties and strengthen network in all areas of cooperation. 
Dr. Mousavi praised Bangladesh’s active role in the D-8 as one of the founding Members of the Organization. He also appreciated the critical role of Bangladesh in furthering common agenda in areas of cooperation. 
Ambassador Siddiki appreciated the Secretary-General for his active and dynamic role in furthering the D-8 agenda. He noted that the D-8 was undertaking many activities in order to consolidate development cooperation. He hoped that these activities would pave grounds for the enhancement of the D-8 cooperation. Both hoped that the 9th Summit would be held soon in 2017.
