Ministry of Rural and Regional Development of Malaysia arranged a village tour on 03 March 2018 for delegations of Africa Asia Rural development Organization (AARDO) and Developing Eight Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8) in order to share the success story of the Government of Malaysia in transforming rural economy into a sustainable economic hub.

Kampong Pachitan is a Malay village, approximately 80 km from Kuala Lumpur, which had been developed by the Government of Malaysia as a model to enhance economic well-being of the rural people and encourage them to contribute to the rural economy by engaging in government-supported programmes.

The main economic activity of the village is palm oil and rubber. It is also well-known for its homestay programme which attracts thousands of tourists from local and international community. The Government-supported programmes enable the villagers earn their livelihood and live a sustainable life of well-being and encourage young people to continue staying in village. The government promoted eco-tourism, cultivation of palm oil and rubber in the village for steady stream of income to the villagers.
