44th Session of the D-8 Commission was held from 08 to 09 November in Dhaka, Bangladesh

It was the first physical session of the Commission since the Covid-19 pandemic started in 2019. All Member Sates participated in the meeting and contributed towards the success of the meeting.

Secretary-General, Ambassador Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari addressed the participants and informed them that he will shortly bid farewell to the Organization upon completion of his appointment tenure. He enumerated the various initiatives and achievements during his tenure from 2018-2021.

The Commission discussed a number of Agenda items, including the D-8 Payment Card initiative, D-8 Projects Support fund initiative, D-8 Creative Economy and Financial Center, D-8 Special Economic Zones and also reviewed the progress of its affiliated institutions namely, D-8 Chamber of Commerce and Industries (D-8 CCI), D-8 Health and Social Protection Program ( D-8 HSP) D-8 International University, D-8 Network for Pioneers for Research and Innovations (D-8 NPRI) and D-8 Research Center for Agriculture and Food Security.

The Commission welcomed and supported the initiatives and appreciated the Secretary General’s achievements during his tenure.

The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the People’s Republic of Bangladesh from 8-9 November 2021 in Dhaka.
