Ambassador Imam meets European Youth Association delegation, seeks support for increasing visibility for D-8 Organization globally

The Secretary General of D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, H.E. Ambassador Isiaka Abdulqadir Imam, has sought the support of European Youth Association (AGD) to enable him achieve his plan of increasing the visibility of D-8 organization to become a reference point amongst other international bodies.

He made the call while receiving a delegation from the European Youth Association led by their President, Mr. Arif Sen, who visited him at D-8 Secretariat in Istanbul on 8 April 2022.

Welcoming the delegation to his office, the Secretary General reiterated that one of his key plans since assumption of office early this year has been how to further increase the visibility of D-8 organization and promote its activities, thus making it an institution of choice at par with its peers globally. In this regard, he expressed his desire to work closely with European Youth Association to promote the activities of D-8 organization in European countries within the ambit of the existing MoU between the D-8 and the parent body of AGD, Anatolian Youth Association in Ankara, Turkey.

Speaking earlier, the President of European Youth Association, Mr. Arif Sen had briefed the Secretary General on the activities and projects of the association in all the fourteen countries, where it has branches in Europe, stressing that AGD engages in academics, social and cultural activities in Europe. He stated that he concurred with the Secretary General’s plan on the issue of increased visibility for D-8 organization’s activities and disclosed that some members of AGD were pursuing post graduate research works on D-8. He expressed the readiness of his association to join hands with D-8 to promote the activities of D-8 in Europe, along with the Anatolian Youth Association in Turkey.

In furthering cooperation between D-8 organization and European Youth Association, the two institutions have agreed in principle to in future hold seminars and conferences together at European universities, conduct joint academic researches on relevant priority areas of D-8 organization, organize training and educational programs and also hold events related to youth in D-8 member countries.
