WIEF-SEACO Roundtable 2019 “Regional Collaboration: Transforming Economies” held in Dhaka, Bangladesh

The World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) and South East Asian Cooperation (SEACO) Foundation jointly organized the Dhaka Roundtable 2019 with the theme “Regional Collaboration: Transforming Economies” on 29 October 2019 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The roundtable meeting focus on the future direction of the halal industry as well as opportunities for infrastructure development. It also addressed the prospects and challenges of Islamic Finance and Sukuk.

The D-8 Secretary-General, Ambassador Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari participated in the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) and South East Asian Cooperation (SEACO) Foundation Roundtable as a Special Speaker at the invitation of the H.E. Mr. Tan Sri Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak, Secretary-General of WIEF Foundation, H.E. Mr. Salahuddin Kasem Khan, Executive Chairman, SEACO Foundation and H.E. Mr. Mohammed Mohsin, Chairman SEACO Foundation, Dhaka for sharing the D-8 practices enhancing the regional collaboration during the session of SEACO – Accelerating Regional Cooperation. In his statement, Ambassador Ku Jaafar mentioned that Developing 8 Organization for Economic Cooperation is an inter-regional organization and along its twenty years of existence, the D-8 has accumulated all along its path experiences that encompass challenges. He briefed the meeting the challenges that the D-8 deals with and recommended possible solutions. To accelerate Regional Cooperation, he emphasized on the active private sectors collaboration and increase the engagement of international partners such as UN bodies other international organizations.
The D-8 Secretary-General was accompanied by Mr. Sheikh Mohammad Moinuddin, IT Officer of the Secretariat.
