The D-8 Secretary-General, Ambassador Dato’ Ku Jaafar Ku Shaari paid his maiden visit to Ambassador Murat Tamer, Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey in Istanbul,  at the latter’s office in Istanbul on 02 February 2018.

Ambassador Tamer expressed his pleasure to Ambassador Ku Jaafar for his visit and congratulated him on his appointment as the D-8 Secretary-General.  He also assured him of his support as he strives to take the Organization to the next level. 

The Ambassador and D-8 Secretary-General exchanged pleasantries and discussed on new strategies, among others, to reinvigorate the D-8 Organization. They also focused on the importance of the Private Sector in the D-8 activities as well as the Youth in order to provide synergy for the Organization. The Secretary-General recalled that President Erdo?an had set a new vision for the D-8 in its new phase of policy coordination and implementation of projects at the 9th D-8 Summit held in October 2017 in Istanbul. 

Ambassador Ku Jaafar also briefed him about the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2018 that will take place in Kuala Lumpur in April 2018 which will offer a D-8 pavilion for companies from D-8 Member States. MIHAS is the largest halal trade exhibition held annually for four days.
