D-8 Secretary General paid a farewell visit to the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

The D-8 Secretary General, Dr. Seyed AliMohammad Mousavi paid a farewell visit to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, H.E Khawaja Muhammad Asif on 28th November, 2017 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad. 
Dr. Mousavi commended the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for competently steering the affairs of the D-8 organization for almost five years, which is the longest period of time in its history. He expressed gratitude to the country and its leaders for the effective leadership, guidance and direction that it gave the organization when it held sway. He also appreciated Pakistan for graciously hosting innumerable meetings of the D-8 organization over the years.
Furthermore, the Secretary General gave account of his stewardship over the last five years. He said that he is leaving the Secretariat a much stronger institution then he met it.  He also highlighted the various achievements recorded in the sectorial tracks, specially trade, agriculture, industry and transportation. Moreover, Mr. Mousavi expressed delight that the just concluded 9th D-8 Summit has given message to the low tiers to perform through commitments and time lines as encapsulated in the Istanbul Declaration 2017 and D-8 Istanbul Plan of Action. He opined that his successor will continue from where he stopped.
In his response, the Minister commended the outgoing Secretary General for a job well-done and wished him resounding success in his future endeavors. He also assured Mr. Mousavi of the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to continue to play an active role in the D-8 Organization with a view to increasing the density of traffic between and amongst the Member States.
