At the invitation of Mr. Sowlat Mortazavi, Mayor of Province of Mashhad, Iran, D-8 Secretary-General, Dr. Seyed Ali Mohammad Mousavi paid an official visit to Mashhad that is the one of an important province with a huge cultural and economic potentials in Iran. Dr. Mousavi’s visit wa aimed at establishing partnership and relations with local authorities in Iran, as well as increasing visibility and awareness of D-8 to public at large. 

Dr. Mousavi met Mayor Mortazaviand and both interlocutors held productive discussion regarding D-8 cooperation areas. They took this opportunity to strengthen collaboration between Iran and D-8 and also reviewed the possibilities of holding one of the D-8 meetings in Mashhad in future. Mr. Mortazaviand, the Mayor of Mashhad, assured of support to the D-8 Organization and offered a full-fledged backing to any of future D-8 Activities in Mashhad.
