Dr. Seyed AliMohammad Mousavi, D-8 Secretary-General, called on Mr. Binali Y?ld?r?m, Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications of Turkey on 07 April 2016 at the latter’s off?ce in Ankara. 

The two interlocutors held a very fruitful and effective discussion in a cordial environment and exchanged views on D-8 transport cooperation. Dr. Mousavi informed the Minister of the latest developments taking place within the Organization and conveyed that the Secretariat was working in full swing to implement the vision set by the Organization’s leaders. Dr. Mousavi also emphasized the significance of the area of transportation for D-8 cooperation and sought his support in furthering common agenda to consolidate the partnership among the Member States. He updated the Minister with latest information regarding 10th D-8 Meeting of Directors-General and Expert Working Group on Civil Aviation to be held on 23-24 May 2016, in Cappadocia, Turkey. 

Minister Y?ld?r?m recognized the importance of continued close collaboration and cooperation within D-8 countries and assured that Turkey would stand firm to strengthen the D-8 for common good. He also emphasized that to strengthen D-8 cooperation at the area of transportation, the Organization needs to draw a strategy first, with the inclusion of representatives from all member countries in order to agree on a plan for intensifying the cooperation in this field which will later be presented to Ministers.
