Dr. Seyed AliMohammad Mousavi, the D-8 Secretary-General, paid an official visit to Samsun, one of the biggest port city of Turkey in the Black Sea region. The visit was meant to explore potentials of this important province of Turkey, bridge between the local entrepreneurs and other D-8 economic agents and establish partnership and relations with local authorities in Turkey, as well as to increase visibility and awareness of D-8.

During the visit, Mr. Ibrahim Sahin, Governor of Samsun, warmly welcomed Dr. Mousavi to his office and informed him of the economic potential of Samsun. Dr. Mousavi aslo apprised the Governor of the latest developments taking place within the D-8. He thanked the Governor and through him, the Government of the Republic of Turkey for their continuous support toward the D-8. 

Later, Dr. Mousavi met Mr Yusuf Ziya Yilmaz, Mayor of Samsun. The two interlocutors held a very fruitful and effective discussion in a cordial environment. Mr. Yilmaz reassured commitment to assist the D-8 Organization with their best support and strongly proposed to hold one of future high level D-8 meetings in Samsun. 

Secretary-General Mousavi also met the Chairman of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Samsun Mr Salih Zeki Murzioglu. Both sides exchanged views on improving economic relations between Turkey and D-8 Countries and also prospects of relations between the regions, including the businessmen.
