Mr. Vasip ?ahin, Governor of Istanbul, paid his maiden visit to the D-8 Secretariat on 11 November 2015 and called on Dr. Seyed AliMohammad Mousavi, D-8 Secretary-General. The Governor was warmly received and welcomed by the D-8 Secretary-General.

Mr. ?ahin reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment as founding Member of the Developing Eight Organization for Economic Cooperation to further the development agenda and promote economic ties between friendly D-8 Member States. 

During the meeting, the two interlocutors exchanged fruitful discussion and agreed that enhanced engagement by the Member States would foster economic ties and strengthen network in all areas of cooperation. Dr. Mousavi gave a brief background of Developing Eight organization in terms of its structure and activities. The Governor assured the Secretary-General of his wholehearted support.
