D-8 Secretary-General calls on Science, Industry and Technology Minister of Turkey

D-8 Secretary-General, Seyed Ali Mohammad Mousavi paid a visit to Mr.  Fikri I??k, Minister of Science, Industry and Technology of Turkey on 31 October 2014 in Ankara.
Secretary-General thanked Turkey as a founding member for its full fledged support to the D-8 would continue to be more intensive than ever before. Latter he discussed several issues on industry which is one of the D-8 Priority Areas. Secretary-General said that industry plays a significant role in D-8 economies and is the key generator of employment, income and innovation. 
Secretary-General informed the Minister I??k of the latest developments on Industry and SMEs sector taking place within the D-8. He also underlined that D-8 is moving towards implementation of policies in the next phase of its life cycle and D-8 is very keen to undertake common projects that would directly benefit people to improve their economic standard.
At this juncture Secretary-General sought the Minister’s support in furthering the common agenda to enhance cooperation in the industry sector and come out with the tangible projects for implementation. He underlined the importance active participation of the private sector in the industrial cooperation meeting.
Minister I??k thanked the Secretary-General for the update and assured him of all cooperation. He informed that Turkey as the founding member of the Organization remained committed and active in furthering the vision and objectives. He also said that there are huge human and natural resources in the D-8 countries. “D-8 can emerge as a powerful organization through proper utilization of the resources”, he added. The Minister also assured his full support and cooperation to strengthen cooperation in the industry sector and come out with the tangible projects for implementation.
