Ambassador Dr. Martin, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria visits D-8 Secretariat

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Martin Ihoeghian Uhomoibhi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria and Commissioner of Nigeria to D-8, paid a courtesy visit to the D-8 Secretariat, Istanbul, on Monday, 7 April 2014. He was graciously welcomed by the Secretary-General, Dr. Seyed Ali Mohammad Mousavi, at the premise of the D-8 Secretariat where two figures exchanged views on the various aspects of the Organization. 
During the Meeting, Secretary General Mousavi expressed gratitude for the exceptional support and active role of Nigeria to the Organization. Moreover, Dr. Mousavi thanked Dr. Martin for Nigerian initiative in establishment of Permanent Mission of Nigeria to D-8 in Istanbul in 2012.
Dr. Mousavi also discussed in depth the prospect of revitalize D-8 state of cooperation in its second life-cyle, in bringing D-8 into a higher new level where it deserves. Nigeria’s important role in this regard is highly expected. Furthermore, Dr. Mousavi also informed Commissioner on the importance of the 9th D-8 Summit the most significant event of this year which will be held in Turkey in 2014 as well as reviewed the other events of 2014.
Both Figures exchanged views on the issue of the visibility of the Organization. Dr. Mousavi underlined that in enhancing the visibility of our Organization as well as bringing our countries closer, Secretariat opened D-8 Social Media accounts in the web and sharing and highlighting activities, news and events.   He also brings the attention of Amb. Martin Secretariat’s initiative to enlarge the Organization’s international partnership and in particular to establish relation between D-8 and the African Union, a union consisting of 54 African states based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
