D-8 Secretary-General meets with Ambassador Aminu Wali, the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria

The D-8 Secretary General, Dr. Seyed Ali Mohammad Mousavi, had a meeting with Ambassador Aminu Wali, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on 12 March 2014, in Abuja, Nigeria.
During the Meeting, Secretary General Mousavi conveyed his sincere congratulations to Ambassador Wali, on his very recent appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria. He also expressed gratitude for the exceptional support and active role of Nigeria to the Organization, including hosting of two Ministerial Meetings in Nigeria in 2013, namely the 1st Trade Minister Council (June 2013) and the 4th Agricultural Ministerial Meeting on Food Security (December 2013).
Dr Mousavi also briefed the Minister on a number of Organization’s activities and recent organizational accomplishments, such as D-8 Charter, D-8 Global Vision, D-8 Agreements, and MoUs signed with regional and international organizations. Furthermore, Dr. Mousavi also informed the Minister on the importance of the 9th D-8 Summit which will be held in Turkey in 2014.
Responding the D-8 Secretary General, the Minister highlighted that Nigeria has always been fully supporting the Organization with a view to achieving its objectives. In addition, the Minister underlined that the OrganizationÂ’s role in the international economic decision process to make positive contributions to economic growth and sustainable development for its members is imperative due to competitiveness and globalization around the world.
