In the occasion of the 3rd Expert Working Group Meeting on Shipping (11-12 March 2014, Abuja-Nigeria), the D-8 Secretary General, Dr. Mousavi exchanged views with the Minister of Transport of Nigeria, Senator Idris A. Umar on the importance of shipping cooperation as one of main vehicle to increase intra trade in D-8 Countries. 

While expressing gratitude for Nigeria’s active role in the D-8 shipping cooperation, including as the prime mover during 2010-2012, Dr. Mousavi also highlighted on conducting feasibility cooperation between Nigeria and other MCs in the field of shipping, logistics and railways. In response, Senator Umar also expressed Nigeria’s readiness to work with other members towards achieving the objectives of D-8 shipping cooperation.
